Ryman wins Best Provider in 2025 NZ’s Best Awards

Ryman Healthcare has once again been recognised as a leader in aged care and retirement living, securing the Best Provider Nationwide title at the 2025 NZ’s Best Awards. This marks the sixth time Ryman has received the top honour, reinforcing its reputation for consistent excellence across its network of 40 villages.

Previously known as the Aged Advisor People’s Choice Awards, the NZ’s Best Awards, organised by Seniors New Zealand, are based on nearly 5,000 reviews from residents and families, with only the top 5% of facilities qualifying. Ryman’s performance this year included a record 15 awards, celebrating both group-wide excellence and standout individual villages.

Among the highlights was Ernest Rutherford Village, which won Best Aged Care Large Village – South Island. Nine other villages were named finalists in the aged care category, including Anthony Wilding, Charles Upham, Diana Isaac, Ngaio Marsh, and Rowena Jackson in the South Island, and Bruce McLaren, Logan Campbell, Malvina Major, and Princess Alexandra in the North Island.

In retirement living, Diana Isaac, Northwood, and Keith Park were recognised as finalists in the large facility category. Diana Isaac Village also received the prestigious Enduring Excellence Award, presented only six times in the past decade, for sustained high performance over five years.

Ryman CEO Naomi James credited the achievement to the dedication of staff across the organisation.

“It is an absolute testament to our incredible teams who go above and beyond every single day. Everyone, from village managers to caregivers and laundry assistants, plays a vital role in creating the vibrant, welcoming communities that enrich the lives of our residents,” she said.
“Their consistent and compassionate commitment to excellence, paired with genuine kindness and heartfelt care, shines through in everything they do.”

General Manager of Seniors New Zealand, Tania Ryan, emphasised the significance of the awards being based on genuine feedback rather than industry panels.

“These awards aren’t decided in boardrooms – they’re based on the lived experiences of residents and families,” she said.
“Ryman’s spread of recognised villages and care centres across both islands shows a strong, resident-centred focus.”

Village managers echoed the sentiment. Amy Amtman, of Diana Isaac, called the Enduring Excellence Award ‘phenomenal’, adding: “These achievements reflect years of dedication, heart and teamwork. I couldn’t be prouder to stand alongside such an inspiring group of people.”

Sam Ferrick, manager of Ernest Rutherford, attributed their win to low staff turnover and ongoing professional development:

“This combined with the stability of our workforce means residents and families are supported by people they know and trust. That consistency has shaped a culture of excellence and genuine connection.”

Bruce McLaren Village also celebrated a standout year, passing two recent audits with flying colours and being named Village of the Year in Ryman’s internal awards.
