Ryman releases first Sustainability Report

MEDIA RELEASE

Ryman has released its first Sustainability Report showcasing key advancements made since the launch of its sustainability strategy in late 2022. This closely follows the recent validation of its greenhouse gas emissions targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

As outlined in its strategy, Ryman grouped its material issues under three core pillars – Our Places, Our People and Our Purpose – with an initial focus on three key priorities: climate change, quality care and Indigenous engagement.

The report highlights progress on all initiatives identified in the strategy, including completion of our Taha Māori Strategic Plan in accordance with New Zealand Ministry of Health (MoH) requirements and submission of our ‘Reflect’ Reconciliation Plan to Reconciliation Australia, in line with Reconciliation Australia standards.

In support of driving future-focused dementia design, Ryman was pleased to have more than 5,600 team members across Australia and New Zealand complete a new training module that ensures dementia awareness underpins all aspects of our business.

Executive Chair Dean Hamilton said, “We are proud to publish our first report – a milestone in our sustainability journey.”

“Our commitment to sustainability is essential on our journey to build climate-resilient villages that are well placed for generations to come and a business that delivers sustainable value for our shareholders and all of our stakeholders into the future,” he added.

Ryman will publish its first climate-related disclosure as required by the New Zealand External Reporting Board in its FY24 Annual Report in June.
